Introduction

The CommonName Toolbar supercharges your Internet Explorer web browser transforming it into a powerful navigation tool and search platform. Integrated seamlessly within the Internet Explorer browser, it gives you easy access to CommonName's many features while you surf the web.

CommonName Navigation - from your browsers address bar type a CN Keyword to navigate to a website instead of a complex URL. For example, type "Oxford University" instead of "http://www.ox.ac.uk/". No more http://, "www.",".com", etc.
XPSN - from your browser address bar, search up to 17 of your favourite search engines with a single click. No longer need to remember and type the URLs of the search engines’ websites.
Login Manager - remembers login names and passwords for your regularly visited websites. No more remembering and re-typing your passwords.
Form Filler - fills out online forms with your business or personal details in a matter of clicks. Your details are stored locally and securely in encrypted files.
Online Bookmarks - Go directly to the sites that you have bookmarked. Your bookmarks are stored online by CommonName so you can access them from any computer with web access
Find - Find a word or phrase, typed into the cn: Search box, on the current web page
Highlight - Highlight all occurances of the word or phrase on the current web page
Web Tools - Enter the Tools drop down menu which allows you to access the functions below:

  • Site Info: Opens a sidebar showing you details about the site you are visiting, including alternative, related and international websites

2.4 I've installed the CommonName Toolbar, but I can't find it. What happened?

If you do not see the CommonName Toolbar, click on the "View" and select "Toolbars" and then click on the "CommonName" option.

Please note that some earlier versions of IE 5.0 have a known problem with their support for toolbars. The CommonName Toolbar may be listed under the name 'Radio' (usually the second such listing). This may also keep the CommonName Toolbar from initially appearing when it is first installed. In which case, click on the "View" and select "Toolbars" and then click on the the second "radio" option.
